(ANSA) - SAN PAOLO, 07 OTT - The city of São Paulo is ready to host the 15th Italian Regional Cuisine Week, an event that has already become one of the most traditional and eagerly anticipated highlights of the city’s gastronomic scene and which this year celebrates UNESCO’s recognition of the cuisine of the “Belpaese” as Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity. Organized by the Consulate General of Italy in São Paulo and the Italian Academy of Cuisine, the Week brings together 20 chefs—one from each region—who will cook for a week in 20 restaurants across São Paulo, offering full-course menus made with traditional ingredients that showcase the best of “Made in Italy.” “Sitting down at the table means sharing friends, stories, and experiences, and creating opportunities for dialogue—and this is precisely what we want to celebrate in São Paulo, where Italian Cuisine Week was born,” declared the Consul General in São Paulo, Mauro Campanella, during the official launch event for the initiative, highlighting the “extraordinary” diversity of his country’s cuisine. Marilia Marton, the state’s Secretary of Culture, Economy, and Creative Industries, emphasized the importance of Italian immigration for the “identity, strength, and development” of São Paulo. “Being here to discuss the presence of Italian cuisine, its knowledge, and its practices is fundamental and indispensable,” she added. Gerardo Landulfo, delegate of the Italian Academy of Cuisine and “father” of the Week, emphasized that the event is an opportunity to showcase the “stories and traditions” of every region of Italy. “This is the great advantage of Italian cuisine, recognized by UNESCO for its culture,” he said. The Week, running from October 19 to 25, also includes a parallel program featuring conferences, free tastings of Italian products, and classes taught by Chef Claudio Rocchi at universities and other educational centers.
